Students to Perform at Rockin’ for a Reason, a Fundraising Concert at Milford High SchooI to Support Pediatric Cancer Research

Milford, MA – January 4, 2018 – On Friday, January 4, 2019, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, approximately 17 local students and teacher bands from Milford High School, Nipmuc Regional, Miscoe Hill and Blackstone Valley Tech will be Rockin’ for a Reason, a fundraising concert at Milford High School (31 West Fountain Street in Milford, MA) to benefit pediatric cancer research. All proceeds raised will go directly to the Ty Louis Campbell (TLC) Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds innovative research and clinical trials specifically geared toward the treatment of the most aggressive childhood cancers.

Tickets for this live rock and roll, all ages style concert are $10 each and can be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Doors open at 6:30 pm; music starts at 7 pm.

The inspiration for the benefit concert comes from Ty Louis Campbell, affectionately known as SuperTy, because, like all children who battle cancer, he defined strength and courage even when faced with life’s most difficult challenges.
Milford High School senior and singer Carlie Gonzalez, who is a pediatric cancer survivor, will perform during the concert in honor of her fight with Ewing’s Sarcoma. “Carrie sang throughout her treatment, sharing her talent and giving a voice to children fighting cancer,” stated Jennifer Derocher, concert coordinator for Rockin’ for a Reason. “We are so happy to have her back year after year as we celebrate her health.”

“Being a cancer patient myself, I know how badly cancer affects people; and the Rockin’ for a Reason concert is a great way to get people together to fight cancer,” said Gonzalez. “I believe that music is the best way to spread a message and everyone has done a fabulous job so far. ”

Through concert tickets, food and merchandise sales, as well as the very generous list of sponsors including DCH Toyota of Milford and Target, Rockin’ for a Reason will raise money that goes directly into research grants through the TLC Foundation and their amazing network of top oncologists and researchers in the field of pediatric oncology.

BACKGROUND: Pediatric cancer is the number one cause of death by disease among children, and almost one out of five children diagnosed with cancer do not survive more than five years. For those that do survive treatment, 65% will suffer from serious long-term effects. TLC seeks more effective, less harmful treatment options designed for children.
