On Sunday, September 29, the Wildcats celebrated its 10th annual “Spirit Day” at Westlake High School and raised an incredible $96,000! The annual fundraiser has grown into one of the largest community events in support of the childhood cancer community with more than 400 athletes ranging from grades 1 through 6 participating, and more than 1,000 people in attendance. Over the past ten years, nearly $450,000 has been donated to the TLC Foundation as a result of Spirit Day activities.

Spirit Day is a large outdoor event for kids to participate in athletic games while helping to raise money to fight against childhood cancer in partnership with the Ty Louis Campbell (TLC) Foundation for childhood cancer research. As a part of this fun-filled day of football games, there is also a Fall Festival — including a DJ, food trucks, plants/pumpkins for sale, games, face painting, pie-in-the-face booth, concession stands, candy bar, auction items, raffles, apparel for sale, and much more.

Spirit Day was created in memory of Ty Louis Campbell, who passed from brain cancer at the age of five in 2012. In remembrance of Ty, Spirit Day is a day devoted to setting free the inner child and reminding everyone — of all ages — to laugh, play, and have fun!
