The local community came together in a powerful display of athleticism and philanthropy on Saturday, September 19 during the 14th annual TYathlon and family-friendly 5K. The event drew nearly 200 participants who swam, biked, and ran to support the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation. All funds raised go to the Ty Louis Campbell Young Investigator Fund at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell. Through this investment, TLC pays the salary of an experienced doctor/researcher who is dedicated to collecting genetic bio-information on all types of pediatric brain tumor samples in order to provide individual treatment protocols with precision medicine to children battling cancer.
The TYathlon, which took place along beautiful Lake Mahopac, saw athletes of all skill levels compete. Some breaking personal best records and others bravely “trying a tri” for the very first time. Thanks to the overwhelming support of local business sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and Team Ty’s fundraising efforts, the event was a huge success.
